What to Expect
Finding Us....We are located in the West End of Henrico County between Broad and Hungary Roads and Springfield and Staples Mill Roads. Here is a map of our campus. While it is not to scale, it does represent our buildings, parking lots, entrances and roads.
When you arrive . . .From Hungary Road, you will find convenient parking located at the end of the entrance driveway.
If you have infants or toddlers . . .You are welcome to have them join you in worship or you may leave them in the nursery for Worship and/or Sunday School. The nursery is located in the Education Wing. A greeter at the front entrance will help you find the nursery. When you leave your children in the nursery, you will be asked to sign them in. Please let the nursery workers know if your child has special needs, such as allergy concerns.
To enter the Sanctuary for worship . . .Walk along the sidewalk to the portico and enter the glass doors of Wistar Hall – our Narthex or lobby. You will be met at the door by our greeters and usher team who will welcome you on behalf of the congregation. All of our buildings are handicap accessible, and we welcome people of all conditions into our sanctuary. From the nursery, walk down the hallway to the steps, after the steps, turn left. An usher will greet you at the doors at the end of the lobby.
When you enter the Sanctuary . . .The ushers will offer you worship bulletins describing the Worship Service. By using the bulletins and prompting by the worship leaders you will be able to easily follow our Service. We project the words to hymns, scripture and congregational responses on the screens located at the front of the sanctuary. If you prefer to use a hymnal or bible they are located on either side of the media booth located at the back of the sanctuary. The United Methodist Hymnal (UMH) is red hard-cover and the Faith We Sing (FWS) is black soft-cover. Bibles are blue. The green soft-cover bibles are a gift for you if you do not have a personal bible. Children's "activity bags" are also available. Feel free to sit anywhere, there is plenty of room. If the Service is crowded, or if you arrive after the service has begun, the ushers will assist you with seating. We also offer Sunday School for children and youth during the 10 a.m. worship service.
Our Order of Worship . . .The traditional services (8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.) follow the traditional liturgy of Word and Table, with a time for Gathering and Praise, Proclamation of the Word, Children's Time (at 10 a.m. only), Prayers, Sermon, and our Gifts. Music is interspersed throughout the service with the prelude, anthems and hymns. Communion is celebrated in these services on the first Sunday of the month.
Our Congregation . . .Is composed of all ages, from newborn infants to retirees, with many children and youth. We dress for worship in everything from jeans, to khakis, suits and even shorts. Come as you are. We have a place for you.
